For millennia, aspects of Chinese medicine have been used to slow the signs of aging, superficially and internally. In our clinic, we honor these traditions by using acupuncture and herbs to give vibrancy and glow to the face like no regular facial can.
Our facial rejuvenation treatment first uses natural, gentle scrubbing agents to gently exfoliate the face and décolleté without drying out the skin. Then we use a face mask rich in circulation-promoting herbs, soaked in honey for its moisturizing and anti-bacterial properties. While waiting for this mask to do its work, we use acupuncture points on the body to calm the nervous system and further promote blood flow to the WHOLE body, face included. Thereafter, the honey mask gets lightly steamed off with our signature tea blend.
Next, we use very thin acupuncture needles in the muscles of the face. These needles are much thinner than those we use for the rest of the body due to the sensitive nature of the facial points. A little acupuncture goes a long way here!
Stimulating these small muscles creates three benefits: first, we are facilitating yet more circulation of blood and fluids into the face, creating a glowing, healthy complexion. Second, giving more tone to the underlying muscle allows the skin to plump up, thus smoothing out fine lines. Thirdly, acupuncture stimulates collagen production in the skin, which improves its elasticity and appearance.
Facial needles only need to stay in for a few minutes, during which time we use our Celluma device* over the face on the “anti-wrinkle” setting. Once the needles are removed, we apply the final herbal mask: time-tested beautifiers such as pearl powder and ginseng that drench the skin in nutrients. After another tea rinse, we use an all-natural moisturizer to facilitate a facial massage and a gua sha / jade roller treatment. The whole experience is topped off with a generous mist of rose water.
After this type of facial, your skin will look clear and firm, while your body and nervous system will feel relaxed. Repeated sessions will help your skin hold the firming and smoothing aspect for longer periods of time. And to make sure that the benefits are not just skin-deep, we make personalized nutritional or supplement recommendations to keep your face looking fresh and your skin moist between visits.
We hope you can make time for yourself and enjoy a treatment soon!
*The Celluma uses light therapy to increase circulation. We also use it in the clinic on the “Aches and Pains” setting for treating muscle, ligament, or joint pain.
